Video Poker is a beloved game that can be enjoyed in casinos across the world, or in your house on your home computer, through an Internet account. The game rules are very simple and consist of the player attempting to achieve the best mixture of cards achievable in order to win cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, minus the interaction with any other players. Of course, techniques employed during a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker begins when the enthusiast inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of five cards will be "distributed" on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and players will need to now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.
After the gambler has chosen which cards she would like to retain, they should press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards will be needed they will be given out. The round is now finished, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.
Typically, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that discerning enthusiasts are able to choose the most profitable machine each and every time.
As soon as the first round has finished, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that they may have won. Additionally, some versions of the game allow the gambler a chance to double their wins, in which situation a further round is played. There are also differences between individual machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying characteristics to enhance playability.
