Video Poker is a popular game that is able to be played in casinos all over the world, or alternatively at your house on your home computer, through a web account. The rules are very straightforward and involve the player attempting to get the best mixture of cards achievable in order to come away with money. On this account it is very similar as a classic game of poker, apart from the involvement with any other players. Of course, methods employed during a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless here.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and presses the deal button. A 5 card hand will then be "handed out" on the screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and enthusiasts will need to now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the player would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the enthusiast has selected which cards he or she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards are handed out if desired. The game is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.
Generally, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can range from game to game, so that experienced players are able to select the most money-making ones each and every time.
Once the first round has completed, the player can either choose to remain on and try to to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that has been won. Additionally, some versions of the game give the gambler a chance to increase their wins, in which case a further game is played. There are also variations between individual machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying elements to enhance playability.
