Video Poker is a popular game that can be enjoyed in casinos across the world, or alternatively at your house on your personal computer, using a net connection. The rules are very simple and involve the player trying to get the highest assemblage of cards as you can in order to come away with money. On this account it is much the same as a normal game of poker, apart from the involvement with competing players. Of course, methods employed during a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be useless here.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the player inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of five cards will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the video screen.

The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and bettors will need to now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they want, from all to none.

After the player has selected which cards she would like to keep, they should press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards will be needed they will be given out. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.

Typically, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can range from game to game, so that experienced enthusiasts are agile enough to choose the most money-making machine each instance.

Once the initial round has played out, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Further, several styles of the game allow the bettor a chance to increase their wins, in which situation another round is played. There are also variations among specific games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying elements to enhance playability.
