Video Poker is a popular game that can be gambled on in casinos all over the world, or alternatively at home on your PC, through a web account. The regulations are very straightforward and consist of the player trying to get the highest combination of cards achievable in order to acquire money. In this respect it is much the same as a regular game of poker, without the interaction with any other players. Of course, techniques used in a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker starts when the player inserts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the deal button. A 5 card hand will be "distributed" on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and players should now choose which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the bettor would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, whether it is all or none.
After the bettor has chosen which cards he wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards are needed they will be given out. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.
Typically, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can change from game to game, so that knowledgeable enthusiasts are able to pick the most beneficial machine every time.
After the first round has played out, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that they may have won. Additionally, some versions of the game give the bettor a chance to double their winnings, in which case a further round is played. There are also differences between individual machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing elements to enhance playability.
