In this respect it’s very similar as a normal game of poker, apart from the involvement with any other players. Of course, methods used in a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be useless here.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and presses the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the video screen.

For the cards the gambler would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.

After the player has selected which cards he or she would like to keep, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be needed they will be given out. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.

Generally, the minimum succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the payout schedule can change from game to game, so that skillful gamblers are able to select the most beneficial ones every instance.

As soon as the initial round has finished, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Additionally, some versions of the game allow the player a chance to double their profits, in which instance a further hand is played. There are also variations between individual machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying characteristics to enhance playability.
